Amica Group has prepared a non-financial report for the first time in full compliance with the CSRD Directive and the European Sustainable Development Standards (ESRS). The document includes data from 15 companies in Europe, combines financial and non-financial sources, showing how the implementation of an integrated approach to ESG in the household appliances industry looks like in practice.
Amica Group, one of the largest manufacturers of household appliances in Europe, publishes its summary of 2024. The document is an integrated annual report, prepared based on legal standards related to the ESG concept (Environmental, Social, and Governance). Taking care of these three factors is one of Amica's key goals, implemented through specific, strategic actions for each of the areas.
The report is fully aligned with the requirements of the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
Area E – environment
In the Amica Group strategy, investments related to environmental care occupy an important place. Reducing CO₂ emissions is one of the company's key goals, and its implementation is supported by, among others, the planned investment in a photovoltaic farm with a capacity of up to 2 MWp, which will increase the share of energy from renewable sources in the company's energy ecosystem. Such capacity will allow the production of electricity that could cover the annual demand for electricity for about 1,000 Polish households!
In 2024, the Wronki factory implemented the so-called cogeneration: a combined energy production system that allows for the simultaneous production of electricity and heat. This is another step towards increasing the energy efficiency of the factory and reducing greenhouse gas emissions: this investment will contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions by over 5 tons per year.
Amica Group focuses on reducing CO₂ emissions both in its direct operations and in the areas of suppliers, transport, use of products by customers and waste disposal. The company constantly analyses and optimises processes to minimise its carbon footprint; by 2040 Amica plans to achieve zero emissions in production processes.
Caring for the environment also means creating products that support customers in caring for this area. Amica designs products so that - thanks to their high energy class - they use less energy and allow you to reduce your electricity bills. Amica household appliances are durable, easy to repair, and after use - recycled.
Area S – society
In addition to pro-ecological activities, the Amica Group attaches great importance to the social aspects of its operations and care for the work comfort of all employees in the group of 2,500 people. Amica conducts a number of activities aimed at eliminating the gender pay gap to ensure equal opportunities and fair remuneration. By monitoring the Gender Pay Gap indicator, it takes actions aimed at its total reduction by 2030.
Operating in the manufacturing sector, Amica prioritizes occupational health and safety (OSH), striving to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. As a result, the number of accidents at work decreased by 24% in 2024 compared to 2023.
With the health and well-being of its employees in mind, the Amica Group runs a healthcare program called AmiCare – Health and Relaxation Zone. This comprehensive activity includes, among others, a number of medical tests for employees (in 2024, the Group offered 12 types of tests, in which a total of 1,167 employees participated), as well as free psychological support for employees and their children, and the “AmiCare – Health and Relaxation Zone” tab on the internal website of the Intranet Plus network. This is an educational space containing content that builds awareness of physical and mental health and helps effectively shape healthy habits in various areas of life, including: health prevention, nutrition, physical activity and occupational hygiene.
Amica cares not only for its direct employees, but also pays attention to people employed throughout the entire value chain, including suppliers and business partners, promoting ethical work standards and ensuring compliance with employee rights in cooperating entities.
Area G – Governance
The third pillar of the ESG concept is corporate governance, a set of principles and rules for managing a company. The goal of implementing governance is the transparent and effective functioning of the organization, taking into account the interests of all parties - from shareholders to employees.
Among the actions included in the Amica Group report, it is worth mentioning: assigning responsibility for implementing the ESG strategy to management board members, appointing a member of the Supervisory Board supervising ESG, and establishing the Internal Audit function. Additionally, the Group announced the implementation of crisis procedures and updating the risk matrix with ESG elements.
What does the report say about the Amica Group?
The report confirms that ESG is an integral part of the Amica Group's business strategy. ESG activities are consistent with the adopted "Back to Profitability" strategy, according to which the Group's main goal is to offer durable and reliable household appliances with the highest quality of service, which are to serve consumers by respecting the heritage of local brands and traditions, thus facilitating everyday activities.
It is worth noting that the report is not only the fulfillment of the reporting obligation: it is an important tool for change management and supports the building of organizational resilience, transparency and competitive advantage. The Amica Group is an example of a company that actively incorporates the principles of sustainable development into all areas of its operations.
- At the Amica Group, we believe in ESG values and their positive impact on the operations of companies, which is why, in addition to activities resulting from mandatory directives, we have also been implementing the ESG Strategy for three years. For us, the Sustainable Development Report is not only an obligation resulting from regulations, but above all a source of inspiration for further involvement in environmental, pro-social and management initiatives. ESG issues are associated with risks, but also opportunities that we plan to use in the coming years – says Justyna Glaza, ESG Manager at Amica Group.
Amica's report shows how new regulations (CSRD/ESRS) are becoming an impulse for real changes in management, combining important business and financial indicators with care for the environment, employees and corporate governance. The Group's activities are proof that it is possible to actively participate in social and environmental transformation.
